I had this revelation the other day.
I’m so glad I was a child of the 80s music scene. I look at the 60s, and the 70s, and everyone just seems dirty. I would’ve been a terrible hippie, and a terrible punk, because I need showers and clean laundry on a regular basis. And even in the 90s, during the grunge era, there was an “unwashed” element to it.
But in the 80s, everyone was clean. (Okay, everyone I was paying attention to.) Everyone’s hair and clothes and makeup were just so, and maybe your flat was a pit, but you cleaned yourself up before you went out. No one rolled out of bed in a ripped t-shirt and yesterday’s jeans and went to the club.
