So is it a dessert made from walruses, like peach cobbler? Or is it someone who makes shoes for walruses?

Detailed Chicago map from 1857, including legal cab fares...
This amazing map from 1857 allows you to zoom in and explore the city (population 110,000).
Note that everything north of North Ave to Fullerton (where the town of Lake View starts) is countryside. The south and west sides are a bit more developed.
Also, pan all the way east to learn “Legal Hack or Cab Fares,” which really don’t seem that much different from today.
I take the bus to work on “Milwaukee Plank Road” every day.
Remember all those cool pictures of Roger’s DJ set that were posted yesterday? These are my shitty ones!

Urf.
I was just reading some reviews online about the club where Roger is doing his DJ set tomorrow night. Ugh, it sounds like the most horrible douchebag bar I could imagine. I’m hoping the place will be so overrun with Duranies that no one else will even be able to get in.
And then I imagine how bewildered the staff is going to be. Normally having to deal with douchebags and trixies all night and suddenly they’re surrounded by a bunch of middle-aged ladies. Then we disappear and you never see us again. Surreal.
Flappers smoking in the ladies’ room, 1922, Chicago.
The Chicago River is looking particularly sodden and unhealthy today.
Poor thing. Needs a major detox after yesterday.
